Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is an American and Canadian singer-songwriter. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music is classified as folk and alternative rock, but it also has hints of hip-hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as the feminist's icon, and Grammy-winning artist is considered the pioneer in DIY music. It was one of the first artists to launch their own labels in 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, her parents Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had met while attending an institution called the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian heritage and her mother was born in Montreal. Ani Difrasco composed and recorded the hit song "32 Flavors". The song is featured on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. The soundtrack to 1999's Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate is a version of the song. In 2013, DiFranco apologized when it was revealed that she was hosting the three-day event at an old Louisiana plantation for slaves.
