She reported on sports for several of the largest outlets in the nation. She spent almost a decade reporting on sports for The Washington Post, including tennis, football, and basketball. Nichols began her career at ESPN at the beginning of 2004. She spent nearly nine years with the company, winning two Emmy Awards. She also was a guest on some of the most popular shows on ESPN including SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. She was also one of the networks' Monday Night Football broadcasts as a sideline reporter. After that, she joined CNN and Turner Sports. The show she first created and hosted was her own show, Unguarded together with Rachel Nichols, and aired every week on CNN and CNN International. More than 1 billion people were watching it around the world. Nichols worked as a journalist with TNT in the time period in charge of NBA broadcasts such as playoff games, regular season games or All-Star teams. Also, she has worked at TBS reporting as an anchor covering baseball and golf coverage. CBS broadcasted the Final Four. Only a woman has been picked from over two hundred nominations in the 42-year old history of this award.
