
Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimmyenezon 2 September 1966)[3][4][5]), is an American and Mexican actress. She started her career in Mexico with leading roles in the telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) as and the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995), for which she received an Ariel Award nomination. She quickly made herself known in Hollywood with roles in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) as well as Dogma (1999). Hayek's performance as Frida the painter in Frida (2002) and Frida (2002), which she also produced, was what made Hayek the first Mexican actress to receive the Academy Award [6]. This also earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as well as British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to make films as well as starring in action film Once Upon a Time in Mexico in the years following.
